Hello, my name's Jonnie. I'm a junior in high school taking my first year of IB Theatre, which I am fairly new to. I’m taking this class because I’ve grown to love theatre, though I need to practice the acting itself, I’ve usually been backstage for theatre productions. I’m experienced in making character designs, as I’ve attempted to design characters before in relation to how they are as a character; so I’m experienced in that way. My drawing skills have also lent a hand in being able to draw the characters in the outfits I chose.
Last year I took a course called and in a course called Theatre for Social Action, and the semester after that Costume and Makeup Design. I took this class because I wanted to improve my skills in portraying a character in a certain way and why/how that is done. During Costume and Makeup Design, I learned how to convey what a character is like through their clothing and makeup.
The year before this, I took Theatre for Social Action because I like theatre and I want to learn how to create and input theatrical elements; such as lighting, movement, emotion, and play. I only know a handful of plays, though. In my freshman year I was the assistant stage manager for my school's production of 'Almost, Maine,' which was directed by John Cariani. In the past I've been included in varied theatre classes. During this particular year, I was a dramaturg, as well as a small part actor, in my school's production of 'She Kills Monsters,' by Qui Nguyen. I was a wraith as well as a bugbear. During this production, I learned how to fight onstage and how to choreograph fighting.
I love photography, especially taking pictures of nature and landmarks. Through this, I learned how to take pictures while using light as a key factor to improve the quality of the picture.
One of my more favorite active hobbies is going on hikes in nature, especially at beaches surrounded by woods or in downtowns of cities/towns. My favorite musicals include but aren’t limited to; Heathers, Mamma Mia!, and Hairspray. I don't really have a favorite play, though if I had to pick one it would be Macbeth.
